WHY WE STARTED
Our mother, Daisy Hanphung, came to America and built a life centered on family, hard work and opportunity. She became an entrepreneur, raised three children and remained deeply connected to the people she loved.
When Daisy was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2022, our family experienced the complexity of the healthcare system alongside her. During treatment, only one of the many doctors and support staff involved in her care spoke enough Vietnamese to discuss her situation comprehensively. The language gap made an already difficult experience harder to navigate.
That experience became part of the reason we created the Daisy Family Foundation. We believe healthcare professionals need more than clinical knowledge. They need the ability to communicate, build trust, understand culture and meet patients with compassion.
Our mission is to nurture the next generation of medical professionals through scholarships and research funding — with a particular interest in students who are committed to serving underserved and linguistically diverse communities.
Daisy's story is where this work began. The students we support are how we hope it continues.
