Scholarship Opportunities

2026 Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Enrollment at an accredited medical, nursing, public health, or healthcare-related program

Be in good academic standing and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

Evidence of volunteer work, clinical experience, or community service related to healthcare

PLEASE NOTE: The scholarship will be sent directly to your school, with no exceptions

Supporting Documents

Current curriculum vitae 

Personal statement describing your community involvement and your commitment to under-served communities (500 word max)

Two letters of recommendation from professors/faculty, medical professionals, mentors, or community leaders

Official transcript or proof of enrollment

PLEASE NOTE: All supporting documentation and letters must be submitted through the online application in PDF format.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Timeline & How to Apply

Candidates selected for final consideration will be invited for a phone, or in-person, interview in June

Applications are typically due in May annually. Please refer to the official announcement or website for this year’s specific deadline. Applicants must complete the online scholarship application form, submit a personal statement, transcript, and letters of recommendation. How many scholarships are awarded each year? What is the scholarship amount?

The number of scholarships may vary each year based on available funding and applicant pool quality.  The scholarship award amount will be announced annually.

Can undergraduate or pre-med students apply?

Yes — undergraduate, graduate, and professional students pursuing a career in healthcare or compassionate care may apply, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

What should the personal statement include?

Your 500-word essay should describe your passion for healthcare, experiences serving underserved populations, and future goals to advance equitable care.

How are recipients selected?

Applications are reviewed based on academic merit, demonstrated service to underserved communities, leadership, and commitment to equitable healthcare. Finalists may be invited for an interview.

When will recipients be notified?

Scholarship recipients will typically be notified by July annually. Award announcements will also be posted on the Daisy Family Foundation website and social media channels.

How will scholarship funds be distributed?

Scholarship funds are sent directly to the recipient’s educational institution to be applied toward tuition or related academic expenses.

Can I reapply next year?

Yes! Previous applicants and recipients are welcome to reapply as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
